R2 Bus Route Changes

After lengthy discussions, site surveys and visits, led by Cllr Melanie Stevens, TFL have decided to change the hail and ride bus stops to permanently sited stops for the R2 in the Valley, which we hope will benefit all bus users.

The map details the proposed new stops, along the route of Norheads Lane, into Kings Road, round to Spring Gardens, up into Melody Road before returning back alone Kings Road.  Please click here to see the map

We have tried to use the approximate location of the old hail and ride information boards where the buses would normally stop and introduce the much loved and missed stop at the beginning of Kings Road without losing the one now outside the Recreation Ground.

The plan is also to carry out some kerb works at the same time so that the bus access ramps can be used as and when required by the elderly and disabled.

All the stops will be clearly identifiable with stopping cages painted on the carriageway, however we were unable to get any more electronic information boards installed, so we will have to make do with the old fashioned paper copies.

The final part of the proposed plan is to extend the DYL around the mouth of Kings Road from Norheads Lane and to fill in the small section of DYL in Rosehill Road to enable the bus entering and exiting these roads.

The consultation on the proposals is due to start very soon and we welcome any thoughts or suggestions so that we can ensure that everything has been taken into consideration before the final plan is actioned.
