UPDATE on the recent Traffic Chaos

Comments Off on UPDATE on the recent Traffic Chaos
Thanks to local councillors to looking into the recent traffic chaos. Updates as follows – 1.) Westerham Hill – This falls under Sevenoaks’ Borough. I’ve been advised that the reason for the closure is a fallen tree, there are two other potential trees at risk of falling, therefore the road will remain closed until these trees have been checked and deemed as safe. I’ve been advised that the road is expected to be re-opened on Friday 03/06/2016 (tomorrow). I will request further information and will update you tomorrow with the expected time that this is due to be opened.
2.) Shire Lane – Works are progressing well and SGN are still on track for the road to be re-opened on Sunday 05/06/2016. The time of re-opening has not yet been confirmed, however it is expected the road will not open until Sunday evening.
3.) Highams Road – Thames Water closed the road due to an emergency burst water main on 31/05/2016 overnight. Road was re-opened late yesterday (01/06/2016) and being managed under priority boards, I’ve just been informed that the road has been closed again today (Thursday 02/06/2016) whilst the reinstatement is taking place, this is due to the size of the vehicles backfilling the excavation, there is not enough room to allow traffic to pass. I’ve requested for this to be re-opened again today once the vehicles have left site and then site will be managed under priority boards again. Site is expected to be fully cleared late today/early tomorrow once the reinstatement has cured and is safe for traffic to drive on, but the road will be be open to traffic from late morning under priority boards again like last night.
4.) Bromley Common – These were Thames Water night works authorised by TFL. Thames Water were supposed to be off site by 05:00, however their works over ran. Site was cleared by midday and traffic flows resumed as usual once their temporary lights were taken down.
